Crispy Belgian Waffles, Crunchy Outside and Soft Inside

Pretty square waffles made from a yeasted batter and cooked in a waffle iron until crisp, served with chocolate, sugar and fruit.

المقادير
  

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 and a half cups warm milk
  • 100 g melted butter
  • Vanilla
  • To serve: chocolate, icing sugar, fruit

Method
 

  1. Mix together the flour, sugar, yeast and salt.
  2. Add the eggs, warm milk, butter and vanilla, then whisk until the batter is smooth.
  3. Cover the batter and let it rest until it rises slightly (about 30 minutes).
  4. Heat the waffle iron and brush it with a little butter.
  5. Pour in a ladleful of batter and close the iron until the waffle is cooked and golden.
  6. Lift it out and serve hot with chocolate, icing sugar and fruit.

ملاحظات

A properly hot iron gives a better crunch.
The resting time makes the inside soft and light.
Don't open the iron too early or the waffle will tear.
